Talking Circle & Potluck Supper - To Honor Ojibwe elder Larry Matrious while he visits from Michigan.

aanii - Greetings hello There will be a Circle gathering at
St. Andrews Episcopal Church
354 Main Street
Hopkinton, NH 03229
Time:
1:00pm to 5:00pm
This
meeting is scheduled for SATURDAY, February 25th. 2006 Food is welcome and will
be shared as a feast meal.
Coffee
and soft drinks will be on hand.
ABOUT THE CIRCLE
Anyone you know who would be
interested in coming is welcome.
Ojibwe circle is a gathering
of people learning the red path way. We are taught by an elder who lives in
The circle offers teachings of
traditional Native American and First Nation people. The information includes
various publications, books and current event information, sharing of
information given by our Ojibwe and other tribal elders, language study {Ojibwe
mowin} and discussion among the people attending.
The circle is then closed
releasing the directions.
It is requested that women
wear ankle length dresses and men wear long trousers in respect of native
tradition.

St. Andrews Episcopal Church
Will Ottery, a different Museum trustee, is a deacon at the church
and also has Native heritage. He's graciously offered the hall there and
between him, Brian and I the idea of combining the events merged. Will is
looking to connect the church more actively with Natives in this area and
specifically with a non-Native church they've partnered with in Utah. The
program, developed 28 years ago, is called "Paths Crossing" and seeks to
build cross-cultural awareness and connections.
