Bob White Bear Olson

Speaker, Craftsman, Flutist

Wampanoag

white.bear@northeastcultural.com

A traditional presenter dedicated to helping all people to understand the values of the native American culture.

Bob has studied with traditional elders from many nations over the years to gain knowledge of spirit and the traditional ways of the people.  His primary teacher is a Mikmaq, Elder Don Caplin, who is from Listiquj, Quebec, Canada.

A flute maker for over nine years as well as an excellent player, Bob has Cd's of his music. The songs that he plays were given to him through heart from spirit and are healing songs for the people. He often will perform at powwows so the audience can relax and enjoy the timeless sounds that spirit gives us through the flute.

A skilled outdoorsman all of his life, Bob lends much to the protection of the knowledge of many old skills that are thought to be lost in today's world. He is experienced in the art of basket weaving, brain tanning , the making of all kinds of leather work and cordage, drums, shakers and flutes. Making these things is only part of the effort. Knowing the legends of the items being made is a part of the work as well.  The legends offer lessons about life as one learns the skill. It is a part of Bob's vision to pass on the complete knowledge of these things as they were passed down to him.

Bob is a powwow trader offering flutes, flute kits, drums, shakers and many Native American trade goods.
